Are you listed as a user thats allowed to use the remote desktop (on the server end)?
Yes, it was all working fine and then some day it said something about termional services If i remember right TS and RDC has nothing to do with each other.
Is it possible that your "client" has had its firewall (ICS) re-enabled and / or ports blocked?
There is a setting in there to accept / deny remote desktop connections
Tried all that mate cant understad it :-(
RDC and TS are the same i believe. WS2003 comes with 2 TS licenses (aka RDC). Have you enabled / changed any TS license settings recently? We had same problem a while ago. I'm embarrased to say we couldnt figure it out. It was just before summer and the only thing on there was kids work which we copied off, formatted re-installed server 2003 and then put work back on. Might have tried to find a solution if we hadnt got 6 uninterrupted weeks to sort it out.
Yes - probably the 2 TS licensing thing - go to the actual server (or use GenControl remotely) - logon on - go to Admistrative Tools/Terminal Services Manager and you can see the active connections - if there are 2 there that shouldn't be there - right hand click and disconnect them.
I can't DL the screen shot I'm afraid, web site bombing out on me... so this is a blind reply...
Any hung sessions in your Terminal Services Manager that need re-setting ?

Run netstat -a
Does the RDP service on port 3389 appear to be listening???
Do you have more than 1 NIC enabled?
If the service is running and listening then you have something blocking the access to it.
there is a setting in there to accept / deny remote desktop connections try that![]()
do you have a
user acount thats is allowed to use the remote desktop (on the server end)?
Yes,
it is just the admin account.
Been having the same problem here. Try this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555382
I managed to re-establish connection though I have no idea what it will do to my VPN connectivity which runs using the second NIC!
Thanks Busybub it worked!!!!
Result!
Sadly, even though this fixes it, I've had it happen enough times that I really want to know why it happens when I've done nothing to change it!
*grrrr*
