It would seem we would be looking at a similar-to-Ruckus kind of price, then - around £10,000, maybe a bit under that, for our quite-spread-out 800-pupil school. If the Bursar mentions any kind of inclination to look at managed wireless systems I think I'd certainly get both Ruckus and Xirrus in to compare.

Wow thats a cheap quote for such a wide area, how far apart are the buildings and approximately how many classrooms were you surveyed for ?

is the quote for A,B,G,N as I know this affects the cost or was it without N ?

We have approximately the same number of students spread over 3 buildings and the costs are in a different league to what you have been quoted !!!!

It could have been 1 array per building and a basic coverage survey if capacity wasn't an issue. Every site is different hence why we do a real life site survey and guarantee our work.

There's been a lot of misquotation, rumours and plain rubbish talked about us recently, specifically about one of our sites where we have solved an issue where others failed. This is spread by competitors who can't compete on technical level, so they start using fear, uncertainty and doubt.

The customer has posted to clear any confusion up on another thread. Interesting reading for anyone looking to do capacity.

BSF - wasting money before we start....

    Thanks

    Dear Wireless users, Ben

I'm looking for an OUTDOOR solution supporting about 15K users,
(*not* all wanting to surf the web at the same time :-), more like
    15K associations)
Are there any Whitepapers on sizing this with respect to #users/AP
#AP/s per Area, backend infra needed ??

I have 11 of these things on my site and they work very well.....I have the XMS module as well for management. I will also be getting more based on the site survey they carried out.

Again...while Xirrus works very very well for me. They key is the site survey....you need to properly evaluate what works well for your particular situation...

One school near me demonstrated something like 200 devices all streaming video through one Xirrus device...........that was pretty amazing......
