Nagios SMS or dialup modem ?

Had a bit of an issue with the network last night, and nagios wasnt able to get emails throough to us. As soon as the network glitch was fixed, all the emails came streaming through.

What options are they for keeping nagios able to communicate? Is there a way of plugging in a cellphone to have it SMS? Or perhaps a dial up modem and force it to use that to send emails??

    Whats everyone else doing?

I used to use a web-based SMS because I'm cheap, but the place I was working at had an old Nokia wired up to the nagios server and stuck some credit on it from time to time. Then if something serious died, it could still send an alert. I think it used gnokki.

That gnokki looks pretty good, think I may lose some hours in that over the easter holidays.. How does it integrate into nagios though is the hardest thing I'd imagine?

    How about one of these?

GSM SIEMENS TC35 SMS Wireless Module UART/232 - eBay (item 150477911863 end time Aug-18-10 20:59:25 PDT)

Looks like all you need to do is add a sim card and configure nagios to use at commands to control it.

    Ben

My above link for the FoxBox doesnt work. Does anyone know if they are still available or if there is a different utility to send SMS from Nagios?

Thanks for getting in touch. I literally yesterday was just thinking about this again.

Could you advise if there is a reseller in Australia please?
