    I've got Ruckus!!!!

I've got my first Ruckus setup :-)

Its a doddle to setup - just assign the controller an IP, tell it an SSID and passkey and its off - the APs just find the controller by themselves :-)

I arrived here at 12 (now 14:17) and got 2 AP's intalled (and I've had lunch as well!) - it nearly takes longer to get them out of the box than installing them :-)

    regards

    Simon

Do you mind me asking roughly how much it was? just a ballpark (how many zeros) would be a great help in deciding if I'm interested in persuing it or not

ruckus is the bomb. we have around 98% coverage here (the 2% without coverage is the dining hall and the school gym). The lowest any member of staff has gotten was a 40% signal, and that was because she was on the field at the time!

Approx costs are around £750 for the central controller (that's to control up to 6 APs) - each AP costs around £250.

I also purchased a years support for a few hundred as well but that's optional.

    regards

Simon (ahead of Ric for once )

PS but at the same time - I've just ordered 4x£40 Buffalo APs for another school as you can't beat them for value for money to drive 15 laptops at a time

However, my Ruckus school plans on having 30-40 machines running at once!

I could have saved you some pennies there - we will have a load of the Buffalo APs going cheap as we replace them with Ruckus this summer

Really depends on how many AP's you're going to need.

I saw a BOGOF offer on here for the AP's (CP I think) so already there's quite a saving to be made! Not sure of the specific offer details but certainly worth looking at.
