If you look at cisco, you also have to factor in the support contracts and software upgrades. Procure gets free firmware updates and lifetime warrenty!

We're moving to ProCurves, can usually get 3 for the price of 1 Cisco.

We now have an HP as our core aswell.

russdev: They all work fine, but you can't use the Cisco Management Suite to configure the Ciscos if they're on the other end. Maybe that's what they meant? It's telnet all the way for us now lol.

How much were these procurves if you don't mind me asking?

Oh and by the way DMcCoy when you purchase your Cisco switch with a cisco registered supplier you get all the firmware upgrades and lifetime warranty as well, most switch manafacturers are going down this (forgive the pun) route.

There's a bit of cisco wierdness like this. Cisco <-> Cisco we get GB, Cisco <-> Cisco <-> Netgear (gb) we get 100BaseT. Since I've only briefly reviewed the settings, I think I've missed something simple or the unmanaged Netgear is causing it.

We could get a rebate on the old switches from Ho, but I'd prefer for them to help someone out as the rebate is fairly small

Most of it is 10/100 and the intel stuff is all managed.

Will take them of you if free as Edugeek could use them for conference/events stock etc

You do? Thats not at all like their routers is it. I assumed it would be the same with the ios on the switches. I'm quite supprised by this, not at all like cisco 8O

I am equipping our new facility with Netgear ProSafe GSM7248 switches. 10/100/1000, managed and with an excellent price tag. I will write a little review of these when I have used them for a little while.
Apparently they have smart routing routines built in so that traffic is diverted by the most efficient route. Nice.
