    help help help!

I have just rebooted the server room (after the 5 year electric) testing. Everything seems to be ok but for one thing.

No clients can log on. If I plug my PC into the main core switch I can connect. But any computer connected via a 'edge' switch will not find the domain. All switches ping, have an address but will not connect.

    Please help

So the clients can't get an IP address? Or they can't connect full stop?

How did you turn it on? Core switch > wait for it come back up (fully) > edge switches > servers > clients?

Have you tried rebooting your edge switches?

I'd work as matt40k says, start at the core and work outwards. Rebooting the clients is important too, they remember when a domain controller disappears but don't always notice that it's back.

    Thanks for the replies.

For some reason they are working now. My only concern now is that we may have the 'conficker' on our network!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As many of our clients will not update via WUS and this would also account for the 'slower' logons!

In that case you need to pick a client you suspect update your AV and scan it and also use an online scanner as a double check, apparently no AV package detects every variant once infected.
