    RM Network Guide

    Hi guys,

Is there an online guide on RM Networks? I've had a look on their website but can't find the manual on this site.

    Thanks

I dont know about an RM guide, but i am sure if you ask any questions you have there will be some nice person around here that can give you the answer : )

Then upon you asking these questions and people answering them i can add them to the wiki and form a guide

    James.

Well I'm moving from a non RM network to a RM network system, and would like to get a basic understanding of RM. For example does RM have its own Active Directory front end to change passwords, add new pupils etc. Also does RM have its own imaging protocol to create a new image.

    Thanks

Plenty of information in the knowledge base - search for RM Management Console - the AD front end, and machine building - the RM recommended way of adding workstations to the system.
Try and get yourself on an RM course, it will cover all of this.

You get the manual when you purchase, or can download from support site when you have a support contract

Yep the RM Management Console ties together some of the functions of AD in (personally speaking and no doubt people will disagree) quite a nice way. Also does some extra bits - eg drive and printer mapping is done by an RM app that replaces the windows mechanism and is set in the RMMC
If you are used to a vanilla AD though, bear in mind that CC3 uses AD in a different way to normal.

Yes it has its own system.
In brief: In RMMC you create locations and assign apps to them. Them you create a build floppy (or USB stick is better) and boot the machine, fill in a few details (name, where you want the location of the machine to be in RMMC etc), windows is installed and then the apps from the chosen location.

But yes, getting yourself on a course is a great idea.
