    Being a Wi-Fi Hotspot

    Having read this thread:

Does any one have anything similar? Our new lord and master is keen to have it in our canteen area... and I'd like the logon/register bit.

Anyone using any of these? If so which would you recommend?
We are looking at putting a Hotspot in our LRC for everyone to use for Internet access..

    Wifi Hotspot

Did you get anywhere with this? We are looking at something similar for our 6th form area.

We have an ARUBA managed wirless solution which has BOTH the staff/student private network and the Guest network which loads a 'captive portal' (we issue them with a U/N and PWD).
It was pretty pricey - but worth it, especially when you have multiple laptops connecting at a time. Such as in the 6th form common room.

    PM me for more info.

I'd vouch for DD-WRT on all the APs (ensure the APs can take it first, and not just the mini version so you'll need quite a bit of memory in them, there's a great Buffalo point here that has a damn good spec and will take DD-WRT perfectly, it's a router but if you reconfigure it you then have a lot of overhead memory and such to play with*). Use Chillispot with a RADIUS server to authenticate to Active Directory if you want, and a landing page for login. DD-WRT will, essentially, do everything you'd pay an absolute fortune for, for free (excluding the cost of the hardware).

Not to mention it's Wireless-N, could be used as a switch due to the 4 gigabit ports, etc... Also, NAS host.
