Don't you need "Microsoft Office Outlook Connector for Windows Live Hotmail" installed for Outlook/Hotmail combos? Is this part of your standard system image? If not, maybe you installed it for them at the time and need to reinstall it now

Hi, sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your Hotmail account and Outlook.
Its working fine for me after downloading the Hotmail and Outlook connection tool from Microsoft, the address is below.

As long as you have 2003 or newer then it will work fine.
Hope this helps.

My link from yesterday is nearly 24 hours ahead - that's a whole lot of scratching! :OI'm assuming the OP has a problem setting proxy settings in this tool, rather than not being aware they need it. Haven't used it myself but I'd assumed it would pick up the IE settings like most MS apps.

You can't specify proxy settings in Outlook 2003. This is all done in Internet Explorer -
Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings

Hi IE7 has all the proxy information entered ok, web access asks for a user name and a password and the internet works fine!!! normal pop email accounts work great its just hotmail that I am having a problem with![]()

I've just done some quick research and you need a Hotmail Plus account (which is chargeable), you cannot use a standard free Hotmail account. Were you aware of this?

Thanks again Michael...
Merry Christmas to all, my last day 2 weeks off NICE![]()
This used to be the case but is no longer true. I have a standard Hotmail account and am able to synchronise my mail and contacts using the Outlook Connector. (I don't have a Technet subscription either.)
At present you do need a paid account to synchronise calendar details, but even that is being phased out in the near future - the beta of the new Outlook connector can sync the calendar on a standard Hotmail account.
I can't say I've ever tried it through a proxy, so I'm not 100% sure what the problem might be, but I'll give it a try sometime today if I have time and try to advise.
