We use good old YHGFL Foundation for our Internet.
Oh yes we love thier internet...............................!
cynetrix here, 10 meg going to 20 soon, then 50 then 100..
we don't use any of their services as we have a Barracudafilter and smoothwall 8.
Easynet 10mbit fiber here.
I would also suggest Zen. We have had a connection through them for many years, first as a direct customer and then at one step removed via our LA (we are Rochdale where Zen is based).
They won't be the cheapest, but very very reliable and when you ring them you get dealt with by people who know what they are talking about. I believe they can provide quite a range of relevant filtering etc - when we had a direct link to them we certainly had a filtered feed.
JaNET have just recently upgraded our Primary SuperJaNET3 connection from 10Mbit fibre to a whopping 100Mbit fibre via Manchester Computing Center
As Tony said earlier I highly recommend Barracuda Networks for filtering solutions. We have a Barracuda Spam Firewall and a Barracuda IM Firewall and we have been extremely impressed with the products from day one. Plus when you purchase if you ask nicely they will send you a T-Shirt that says "Eat Spam" on the back with the cuda' logo![]()

Redstone at one school, Core education at the other.
We have a JANET 100mb line here.
Mmmmmmmmmmm SuperJanet we mere mortals can only dream of such service!!
As essauk can probably agree the higher speed JaNET links failry quick at pulling certain ISO files![]()
Demon 10MB leased line here plus a Be* line for other stuff.

Those of you who have... parted ways.. with your Local GFL... why? What services might tempt you back? Just interested![]()
uptime... reliability
We had the Filtering Server UPS replacement scheduled for 10am on a Friday. So the internet was off that morning, and was quirky for the rest of the day.. and the following week.
I don't know about others, but I find our "IT Services" just aren't very professionally minded.
We have a 2ary Redstone broadband link, which is reliable, prior to this we had a BT connection that never went down. The Redstone / BT links have never "gone down" in the 9 years we've had them, whereas the LA one...
The funniest thing is that the internal network starts to be a limit when you are connected to Janet.
The building I work in is still served with 100Mbit switches so although Imperial is a key point on SJ5 with multi-gigabit links to the rest of the internet, the fastest I can get stuff is about 10 Megabytes per second :-(
