classroombookings (crbs) install problem

I know I'm probably missing something very basic but I've done the pre-requisite stuff like creating the database and all that.
I edited the two php files and updated the paths correctly, yet when I go to http://myip/crbs as instructed in the manual, i get:

Not Found
The requested URL /classroombookings/install was not found on this server.

ive made sure all references point to /classroombookings/
What am I doing wrong?
This is on a LAMP Ubuntu test server

If you've installed it in the directory /crbs/ then you need to make sure that base_url in the config.php file reflects this - the actual URL that it will be access by.

ignore me, i'd forgotten to comment out the other config page that says if you are using htaccess. sorry mate, me overlooking something again.
