Exchange 2003 backup
When i use the backup software supplied with Server 2003, i create a backup and select First Storage Group and it creates a 14Gb file. I come to just take a look at its contents by going to restore expanding the backup and i can the Mailbox store etc... all the yellow folders but when i select one to see the contents it says no entries is this correct?
If i just back the c:\ i can see the contents.
Is this right???

The Exchange Microsoft backup add on does not do a "blick level" backup that some programs do of the individual folders and messages, it takes a copy of the whole database. This is less of an issue to restore mailboxes with 2003 (over 2000) as you can use the recovery storage group feature.

I assume so, I've not used the built in backup for a long time, but backup exec doesn't show them when you do the whole db either.
