Help my server thinks its run out of disk space.

Hi Guys got an odd one thats really confusing.

My active directory, DNS server, ntds KCC and replication and crtsvc think my server has run out of disk space in event viewer . Examples below

Certificate Services could not publish a Delta CRL for key 0 to the following location on server OGS-SR-001: ldap:///CN=CA Oakgrove School,CN=OGS-SR-001,CN=CDP,CN=Public Key Services,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=oakgrovei ct,DC=internal. There is not enough space on the disk. 0x80070070 (WIN32/HTTP: 112).
ldap: 0x50: 00000070: SysErr: DSID-02020F05, problem 28 (No space left on device), data -529

0x80070070 (WIN32/HTTP: 112).
ldap: 0x50: 00000070: SysErr: DSID-02020F05, problem 28 (No space left on device), data -529

he DNS server has encountered a critical error from the Active Directory. Check that the Active Directory is functioning properly. The extended error debug information (which may be empty) is "00000070: SysErr: DSID-02020F05, problem 28 (No space left on device), data -529". The event data contains the error.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

It seems to be saying I have run out of disk space on system drive at the moment I have 1.16gb. It did go really low during the week du to a error with spooler but I have resolved this. This is stopping me building new machines and adding new users.

We are running a RM system but they are being as much use as a choclate teapot.

Any hints would help and stop me pulling the little hair I have out.

    Cheers

    Matt

I'm hazarding a guess here; perhaps 1.16GB isn't enough for these services to operate?

When do you plan on upgrading the disc space? Looks like it should be sometime soon!

    Cheers

Sorry should have explained have the disks partitioned so the system disk is down to 1.16gb. all the other disk are fine and I have 245GB of unallocated space. Unforunatly you cant explan the system disk.

There are a few things you can do to increase the amount of free space on an RM server's 8GB system partition. You can move the pagefile and IIS log files onto another drive - these take up a lot of space. Find other large directories using SpaceMonger.

If you are using the server for printing, moving the spooler folder is also a good move.

Re: Help my server thinks its run out of disk space.

Do you have partionable space on another drive, or can you had a fresh drive to the server? If so you can add the drive as a directory of the effected drive rather than another drive letter.

What this means is you can pick some easily movable program/data. Stop any program/service that makes use of that directory. Rename the original directory (put a number at the end or something). Add your new hdd space as a directory, calling the same as the old directory. Then copy the files from the old directory to the new.

    Thus....

    I have a dir called C:\program files\someapp\

    I stop someapp from running

    Rename to C:\program files\someapp2\

    add my new drive as

    C:\program files\someapp\

copy everything out of \someapp2\ into \someapp\

Restart someapp and make sure it works

    Delete \someapp2\

Free space now on C:\ drive!

    Hope that helps

    Terry.
