    PoE+ Switch help

    Hi,
Can anyone advise on a 24 port (gigabit) switch for a 400mm depth cabinet? The switch needs to be around 25-26cm depth. HP is our preference....

    Thanks

PoE = 802.3af delivers up to 15W and PoE+ = 802.3at delivers up to 30W. Question is do you need PoE+?

The HP 2910 al's I've deployed are 36-37cm deep, so you need to include the power lead but also the 10Gb uplink ports on the back of the switch. Realistically you can't install it in your cab, unless you moved the cab rails to the front and had the switch sticking out.

Alternatively buy a standard gigabit switch and PoE injectors as required, but this really is a messy way of doing it. You may as well replace the cab.

Actually I take back what I wrote above. It looks like HP have released a new switch - HP 2530-24G-PoE+ and it's 33cm deep. I reckon you'd just about get away with it if you brought the cab rails as forward as possible.

Hi, I'm looking not to use injectors if I can help it.

I need Poe+ for ruckus 7363 or Meru 1020i. All ports GB on the switch, ideally Layer 3.

Poe+ is for future expansion of APs in a few years
