THIS IS NOW FIXED. HP support were helpful. Didn't get asked to swap a PWR cable for change :-)
sending the break command during boot? and bypassing the config?

I am a bit of a novice can you help me a bit more please
I found solution.
After connecting through com1 power off and power on the switch.
During start you'll see communicate that you can press CTRL-B.
Do it and you'll get menu where you can choose to restart without configuration.
After restart you can login as admin with empty password.
Then write "initialize" command to reset configuration to default settings.
In case it helps anyone we just purchased a v1910 recently and I found this guide to enabling full CLI as opposed to the crippled default version or having to use the Web GUI mode - HP v1910 Secret Commando list ( how to enable it ) « Glazenbakje's Weblog
It's a much nicer switch to use now. :D
This is nothing really that new:

Apropos google cache. Anyone tried the latest R1512P06 firmware?
Remember, HP 1910 == HP V1910 == 3Com 2928/2952 which was released in 2008 I think and still receives major software upgrades. Not bad for a once sub200€ (24 port) switch. Tell this Netgear...
