DNS resolution after installing second server
Running a CC4 server. Attempting to install a second server on the same LAN running AD DC to serve 30 machines due to the awful CC4 login times.
Installed AD fine. BUT clients cannot join the new domain. Get as far as the login screen and get this error “An attempt to resolve the DNS name of a domain controller in the domain being joined has failed. Please verify this client is configured to reach a DNS server that can resolve DNS names in the target domain.”
I frankly do not know what I am doing with the DNS. We’re a primary just trying to resurrect an old server to help our network problems. There is no money to get someone in so I’ve got to work this out.
I’ve installed DNS on the new server-I ran the DNS wizard and configured it to point at the CC4 server. The new server is configured to point to itself under DNS in “Internet settings”. Clientis pointing at the new DNS server.
I’m not sure how to get the DNS to resolve, or even what to look for. Or even if I need DNS on the new server. Any ideas??
