The Dude monitoring software
Anyone else using The Dude for topologies/network maps?
Just been playing with it and it looks fantastic. However one gripe - whatever we try, we can't get rid of those poxy "cloud" things - i.e. it's separating the network unnecessarily into subnets (they're not!)
So for instance we want to scan 192.168.1.0/24 but it always does 192.168.0.0/22 as well and adds an absolute shedload of rubbish to the map!
All we want to see is what links to what switch, NOT what hardware is on the same subnet! It's obviously possible because you can see what links each device, what ports etc... or is this some sort of massive oversight? We've played with the trials of D-View and Ipswitch What's Connected (expensive and oh my god, how much??) which can do it rather well but The Dude looks better, looks more functional than both but just this one niggle... ;)
