Firewall blocking outgoing ICMP - or firewall on your clients blocking ICMP replies ?
can you trace ?

See, i guessed Firewall but scratching my head to which one.
Tracert to server = ok
tracert to client = destination unreachable

can you ping them via the IP address on the active network adapter?
I have had this issue and found that it was because the network location had been set to private rather than work so was blocking broadcasts.

Netbook says its on Domain network...
FN-GM...Wha!?
ok put an allow all rule into your firewall on one of your clients (just to test) if it still doesnt work then it rules out the FW.

it looks like its the above mentioned IMCP File and Print sharing setting. Not sure what i did wrong first time. How do i get that to filter down to clients?

I believe you can do it in GP under >> Computer Config - Policies - Windows Settings - Security Settings - Windows Firewall with Advanced Security
You can even add the rule into your client and then export the firewall config then import that into GP, roll it out to your clients then!
