Just wondering how much everyone is paying for a network point install.

(I realise the price goes down the more you have.)

With my new company I am using around £40-50 per point depending on the run, if its an easy one its cheaper, if its a pain it costs more. It's half the price I was paying from one company.

Do you have any larger colleges in the area that may be able to offer their services, or assistance in helping you lay the cables? Or is there a reason why you can't do it yourself? (Rules.. H&S etc..)

Get a contractor in, get them in on a day rate and it'll be better in terms of cost if you've a few.

Anything between 50 and 100 per socket all depends on the run and the complexity of it.

Ah fair enough, sorry I thought you was looking for a solution.

£50-£100 for a cable run.. I think I want a change of career! 10 sockets a week and I'll be about sorted.

I've seen some of the places I sent my cable guy at the school - i would rather stay at home then have the £100 for that!

Really? Sounds easy money to me... maybe I'm missing the point?

    network point?

£100 is the top end when it takes them 5 hours to run a double (being delayed with classes etc) but when I have 700 sockets put in we didn't pay that much!

    It's a pun! In that case, £100 is quite reasonable - £20 p/h. I was thinking £100 for a half hour job. ;-)

The costs often reflect the standard of the job you want doing, if you are happy with sticky trunking everywhere then you will get it done cheaper compared to the company that fishes cables down inside the walls where possible to avoid the trunking, it is all about the time taken to do the job.

Im paying around £70 - £100 depending on the length and difficulty of the run.

They also do it outside of school hours (starting at 6am) so they can be done and dusted and not get in anyones way.
