Just had a look at it and working now. There was no proxy specified in IE because it's a virtual server specifically for SmartMonitor, so have had no need to connect to internet. Specifying a proxy and enabling proxy bypass allowed the page to render normally. Thanks.

Yes that would about do it.
The JQuery CSS and AJAX modules are pulled down from the Google Content Delivery Network (CDN) to ensure that are kept upto date and available this also reduces the overall delivery size of the software.
No internet = no content

This is incorrect you do not need to have them admin page open in order to provide access to the public status page. Admin only needs to be open in order to poll sensors.
the public page can be accessed by anyone at anytime.
But for it to stay up to date...?

When adding you DNS record create a record for netmonitor pointing to the IP address of the web server, next when you create the site on the webserver and you are at the host headers section (step 7 on the guide) simply add netmonitor and continue with the rest of the setup.
Should all be setup OK you simply need to open your web browser and enter
http://netmonitor/admin/ and you should get the admin login page.
ICTNUT - cheers mate took me all of 2 seconds this morning when I was awake

Just curious - how long does it take for status messages to start appearing, I've added a few servers and sensors for them but nothing appears in the overview, the servers are shown on the main public facing page.
Checked config of site in IIS, looks fine, been running for about 1 hour at 5min intervals.

26th January 2010, 10:27 AM #278 I know i'd find this app very useful but so far i've not managed to get it to run on our server, but i know thats my fault just haven't had the time to look at it throughly yet.

I've updated the code that ICTNUT posted earlier about the warning icons, however - I still find that we have a couple of services (that we monitor) are stopped - yet the program still says all is OK.
Did I miss something or should it alert on service failure?
Cheers,
Az

Outstanding little monitor this
Only thing that would be nice is a method to have it running all the time hidden, doubt that's possible though. I did think about having it running in a terminal server session that doesn't time out

We wanted to make this as lightweight as possible hence no need for clients to be installed anywhere and (unfortunatley) no windows service to run the polling.
Glad you like it though

OK a couple of things to check here.
Please make sure that the service name and service detail are correct, i posted what these should be on the first or second page of this thread.
If you post a service that either does not exist or is disabled then the sensor check is simply ingnored.
Does the service report as being stopped in the admin area?

Right OK, then you should get a warning on the front end status page.
Let me have a look for you.
