    Is there feature in to test your email settings?
    We have aspemail on the webserver (for a helpdesk) which works, but with the same settings, getting no emails through (have a sensor on a printer that isnt working)

    Cool

    Any news on the fixes to 1.5.5 yet?
    I'm not trying to rush but we'd like to start using it in anger as a monitoring tool which we can't currently do without giving people access to the admin page overview - which we really don't want to do

    Cheers,

    Az

    Why do you have to give people access to the admin page?

    There is a public front end, which, as long as you have the admin page open, will work for end users.

    Cool

    One of the bugs that ICTNUT noted was that sometimes the front-page didn't display the correct status for servers.

    For example, a PING failure should be an error, a service-failure should be a warning and all OK should be OK.

    However - that's not what I'm finding, a PING comes up as a warning and everything else comes up as OK.

    So in order to get accurate status on the servers, we have to use the admin page overview tab.

    Does anyone know why the admin page wouldn't open correctly in IE7 on Windows Server 2003 (with the IE restrictions uninstalled)? When I open the page, there is no logon prompt and the page is displayed flat (ie no tabs). I've added the site to the trusted sites.

    Right, sorted emails, and getting failure emails coming through.

    However, got an odd one...

    Set a sensor on C: of a server to 10% (also tried with 5%), the actual free space is 13%, but I'm still getting space lower than 10% notifications....

    Weird

    Completely stuck on the final steps, tried just about everything to get it. we have a very long domain name which might not be helping it and I'm not sure I can use a .local or .internal address, neither seem to work anyway.

    have it installed with the host address as "netmonitor"
    domain name is (fake address here) "domain.parent.company.co.uk

    CNAME is set to:

    alias: netmonitor (automatically fills in .domain.parent.company.co.uk)
    FQDN: servername.domain.parent.company.co.uk

    Is this even vaguely correct? any URL I try to use gives me an error. Tried about 10 different installations and DNS configs but I think I'm just getting more confused as time goes on. Been up and at work since 5:30am though so that's my excuse

    Any ideas? bit stumped!

    Please excuse my lack of responses but I am not getting the notification emails, note to self set edugeek domain as whitlist on SPAM filter

    I will deal with your requests one by one below:

    There is a public front end, which, as long as you have the admin page open, will work for end users.
    This is incorrect you do not need to have them admin page open in order to provide access to the public status page. Admin only needs to be open in order to poll sensors.

    the public page can be accessed by anyone at anytime.

    Set a sensor on C: of a server to 10% (also tried with 5%), the actual free space is 13%, but I'm still getting space lower than 10% notifications....
    How much space is reported in the admin area and how much space is reported on the windows server itself?

    Does anyone know why the admin page wouldn't open correctly in IE7 on Windows Server 2003 (with the IE restrictions uninstalled)? When I open the page, there is no logon prompt and the page is displayed flat (ie no tabs). I've added the site to the trusted sites.
    Sounds to me like the CSS files are not being loaded, did you setup the monitor site in IIS as a dedicated site or as a sub directory of another site?

    Any news on the fixes to 1.5.5 yet?

    I really would not give anyone access to the admin area that does not need it.

    The fixes you need in order to get the correct icons are as follows:

    1 - Open the incs folder and within this open the file called functions.asp in notepad
    2 - On line 429 change this

    strSQL=strSQL & "'2',"

    to this

    strSQL=strSQL & "'3',"

    3 - On line 441 change this

    strSQL=strSQL & "current_status='2'"

    to this

    strSQL=strSQL & "current_status='3'"

    4 - On line 573 change this

    strSQL=strSQL & "current_status='3'"

    to this

    strSQL=strSQL & "current_status='2'"

    5 - On line 990 change this

    strSQL=strSQL & "'2',"

    to this

    strSQL=strSQL & "'3',"

    6 - On line 1002 change this

    strSQL=strSQL & "current_status='2'"

    to this

    strSQL=strSQL & "current_status='3'"

    7 - On line 1139 change this

    strSQL=strSQL & "'2',"

    to this

    strSQL=strSQL & "'3',"

    8 - On line 1151 change this

    strSQL=strSQL & "current_status='2'"

    to this

    strSQL=strSQL & "current_status='3'"

    The above changes will ensure that sensors are reported correctly, the download source has already been updated with these fixes.

    I think now would be a good time to start again as it would appear you are getting a little confused.

    When adding you DNS record create a record for netmonitor pointing to the IP address of the web server, next when you create the site on the webserver and you are at the host headers section (step 7 on the guide) simply add netmonitor and continue with the rest of the setup.

    Should all be setup OK you simply need to open your web browser and enter http://netmonitor/admin/ and you should get the admin login page.
