Static IP Address Keeps Forcing Itself Back To A Specific Address

I have a very weird situation. I have a desktop that i am wanting to set as a static address. Everytime I set it to lets say 192.168.1.112 i click ok then when i go back into the adapter properties it has changed to 192.168.1.80. If i then do a ipconfig though it tells me that my address is infact 1.112. BUT once i restart the computer it decides to clear the gateway everytime!

So in short im unable to have it using a static address. i've tried removing the network adapter and reinstalling it but not joy.

anyone know what is going on or if there is a way to completely wipe network properties and start a fresh?

I had this on a virtual machine once. resting the IP stack fixed it.

can you tell me how i do that exactly?
