Cant Join PC to Domain
trying to join a number of PCs (win XP) to a 2008 domain (at the 2003 functional level).
I can ping the Domain controller, and the domain, but when I attempt to join the PCs to it I get the following
DNS was successfully queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for domain stpeters.com:
The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.xxxxx.com
The following domain controllers were identified by the query:
Common causes of this error include:
- Host (A) records that map the name of the domain controller to its IP addresses are missing or contain incorrect addresses.
- Domain controllers registered in DNS are not connected to the network or are not running.

Current setup is
Server (DC -2003) IP x.x.200.4 (curric domain controller)
DC01 (DC - 2008) IP x.x.200.5 and x.x.201.2 (new DC to replace Server) The PCs im attempting to join to the domain are on the 201 range, my guts say DNS but everything looks ok
DC01 holds all the roles.
Try restarting the DNS service on your server, then open up a command prompt and enter:
what happens when you do an nslookup on the DC name?
