Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Express

Hi Guys,

Has anyone had any luck deploying this on their network? Which is the best method?

I've found the most foolproof method of deploying it is to include it in the main image. Otherwise, you can deploy it silently using the command line:

setup.exe /q /norestart

Doing this will install everything however, including SQL Express. You will also want to edit the setup.sdb file using your favourite text editor to add the license key under the [Product Key] heading

I'm guessing you have to do this for each component, would it work as a startup script or better as a logon script?

Sorry, yes, we just deploy VB so I didn't think about the other parts. You would have to do it for each component.

As for login or startup, that's up to you. I'd suggest a startup script rather than login because at least you'd be able to come in early one day and turn the PCs on rather than have some poor sucker waiting for 20 minutes for VB to install while they're logging on!

I'm getting an error now, 'A problem has been encountered while loading the setup components. Canceling setup.'

Any ideas?

I've tried running the batch file while logged in as an admin and it works perfectly.
