Works using standard HTTP. By Default thats port 80 unless you installed it on a server which already had web services (such as SUS running) in which case it installs on port 8530.
The only exception to this is if you have configured WSUS to use SSL, in which case its port 443 your interested in.
oh i see all works off same site i got impressesion that admin ran on one port and update stuff ran on other port..
cheers

Or 8531 if Default website exists...Quote:

no or WSUS chokes if you attempt to move it... good old M$
alright install created the dirs on 8530 site anyay my problems i think our down to embc firewall...
as at home couldnt access server
but here using ip address that does not go through the firewall clientdiag connects ok but then from inside network try use public web address it fails out..
Russ
Yep sounds like a routing/firewall issue.
should only need 8530 opening shouldnt I?
Russ
and 80 for old clients that need the new autoupdate software.
well 80 is open but
then we have slight problem there as already uisng 80 good old rm decided that intranet would site on 80 and then have it restricted to ips from inside network..
as cant unrestrict it as this would public access to stuff software we have license for only internally
so how going to do that not sure....
Russ
You can manually update old clients to the new version of the automatic update software by taking them to Windows Update.
true should be an issue anyway as computers need proving before they recieve updates
