Flash Player Deploy Error 2753

Hello all,

Has anyone had any problems deploying Flash player via GP?

Am getting a error in the event log.

Product: Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX -- Error 2753.The File 'InstallAX.exe' is not marked for installation.

If I try to install from within IE, it works fine.

If anyone has any pointers?

No Symantec, I've tried disabling and running the MSI again but still doesn't work.

ive given up running flash as an msi it just dosent seem to work right i now use the exe and script it with teh removal tool so it uninstalls any flash version then installs current one

The normal reason it gets blocked is it needs to delete an old file, and edit registry, And most the time the anti-spyware part of the AVs are blocking it.

One thing to try, if you didn't. Is try to install it as a computer GPO not user. Could be worth a try.

I used to see this regularly on a random 10-15% of our workstations until I also gave up using the .msi and now deploy the .exe. It's not as easy but it works a lot more reliably. For what it's worth, we were using AVG, but I'm not convinced this particular error is an antivirus problem, personally.

Having a nightmare with this, as the deploy fails it leaves Flash uninstalled.

Seen it installed on some, not on others, and leave the older one on some. So not sure exactly whats going on.

Probably end up rolling out the .EXE as a startup script.

version check aginst a text file on c: called in this version flashdatedownloaded.txt which at the end of install is coppied from teh server so it dosent install every reboot

Seen something similar recently, and as with the others have reverted to local installs.

In looking at my group policy deployments, seems that some of the other software packages are installing other versions of flash. I seem to have up to 3 different versions going, including 2 different versions of 9, and one of X. Somewhere, it's messed itself up. Had to uninstall all of them, run a registry cleanup and manually reinstall.

Yep reading up it looks like 10.1.something messed up on uninstall, which was fixed in a later version.

I have logged error direct with Adobe, so hopefully might get a reply. If not I will roll it out via the EXE.

Still not got a reply from Adobe regrading the error.

Hopefully 10.3 which fix this issue.

I've been manually installing the msi's without issue but tried using GPO recently and borked a small set of PCs.

How are you getting your EXEs for IE?

I'm having issue with the silent switch on your uninstaller. It crashes each time I run it with that switch. Even /? crashes it. Perhaps the link I found to the uninstaller isn't the one you are using.

Edit: Figured it out. The correct switch is -uninstall. /s or /silent is for older uninstallers.
