Deterring Kids From Unplugging Network Cables

We have a script in place to check the cable is plugged in at logon but i want to try and implement something that will detect when the a cable is unplugged while the user is logged on that will require intervention from a teacher to allow them to be able to use the computer again, basically so that its made clear that they have unplugged the cable.

Ideally i'd like it to lock the screen in a netsupport kind of way so that the teacher can see this then have to unlock it to allow them to be able to use the PC again.

I know there are lots of issues to consider, eg kids pulling out other kids cables but firstly i just wanted to see if i could get some ideas from people to be able to try and put something in place.

Can you share the script please? Then we can see what we could adapt :)

Teacher management, we had issues where I found unplugged put in detention and informed head of problem lessons then surprisingly doesnt happen anymore

There are GPOs you can set (if you use roaming profiles) which will log the user off automatically if it cannot be downloaded correctly.

You can still get around the applying of the group policy though.

Obviously you can remove the echo's if not needed. And add loud music etc if wanted :P

Bit of copper cable running aong the outside of the cable and plugged into the Live terminal of the nearest mains source should be enough to deter them.....

They sould make ethernet cables like this, would solve a lot of problems.

If Ethernet cable was like that, imagine installing it in your cabinet! Ouch!

Sure - Mains must first be powered off by specialist key before carrying out any maintenance on IT equipment. The Site Manager and IT NM/Techs have access to this key...

cut half the clips off the network cables so that the kids can't reach the clips to pull them out and just use a screwdriver to remove cables if need changing

Clip the tab on the rj45 cable then no one can unplug it.
