exactly what they said on the blog.
you license by full time equivalent staff, licenses will be a bit more that a machine license but you will need less obviously so significant saving. you can license 1 item (say something like visio or VS or project) instead of having to license for the whole school.
we don't know pricing yet.
will launch in march, talk to your reseller?
i did sit through ten minutes of a rather "interesting" presentation, on some schools somewhere in the uk, where they have "plaza's" with 90 kids in a class and 3 teachers, and video walls and projectors and blah blah. looked a load of cods wollup to me!
That sounds like Bexhill High School **. They decided to try something different for their new build (opened in October 2010). Pods instead of classrooms with 90 students, and plasma tvs instead of whiteboards as the classrooms/pods aren't fixed layout.Quote:

FTE = Staff working >20hrs
It refers specifically to "Administrative Staff" eg full time office so looks like another bean counting excersise.
So all teachers AND support staff working more than 20 hrs???
If the part time Head of catering works 22 hrs pw Does this count? Methinks it would.
What about the full time Caretaker and Assistant?
Maybe someone can ask M$ @ BETT to clarify this aspect of the agreement, it's definitely not just teachers.....

Page 4 of the link m25man provides above has a formula that seems straightforward enough. It also says "You can exclude employees who are non-desktop PC users, such as maintenance or food service staff." So, if they don't have a login, you definitely don't count them, and it would seem that if they have a login but only use it for, say, remote access, you might not have to count them either.
It does also mention that the formula may be different outside te US< but I think we can expect it to be pretty similar.

What do you think of the caretaker/catering manager analogy?
The maintenance staff both need logins and both work >20 hrs so they count.
The Catering Manager works 22 Hrs but does not have her own computer but uses an office PC once per day to place orders online.... Do we count her or not?

She's using a desktop PC at some point, so I'd be inclined to say she's included. The only people who wouldn't be included here it seems, would be cleaners, and normal catering staff. Everyone else uses computers at some point. The only thing to look at would be the hours they work.Quote:

My thoughts entirely, so it's not entirely as revolutionary as it sounds and with the qualifying bar set at 300 points it is most likely to benefit larger secondary's....
