Photoshop CS5

Have any of you successfully gotten the new versions of Photoshop to launch properly when logged into a machine as a student user account? It works fine when logged in as administrator, but when I log in as a student to the same workstation, the application generates the generic Windows application crash message, so it seems to be based on permissions, however I can't seem to find a document that states what to give rights to. Adobe wants to charge for support since it's a volume license we own.

Only cos my littlest one is 24 and can now put himself to bed :)

I've tried that...I've given Domain Users full control of those locations, even tried giving them full control of the application data folder on their server side mandatory profile and it still did the same thing.

It's more or less the same as above but I found that when you gave a user full control over the PCD folder, adobe would then reset the permissions to just "administrator"... and then moan about not having permissions! so I had to prevent it from doing that

Alright, now we're getting a bit farther in the program's startup procedure. It gets past initializing, then to "Starting up plugin/scripting support" then crashes, rather than crashing right away as it has been done before. Anything else to check?

Must be a bug since nobody has any fix for it yet.

Are you trying this on Windows XP? I had a similar issue when testing it out and the internet told me it's due to it not working when using a mandatory profile with XP (I did not test this.)

You can either get around it by not using a mandatory profile (unlikely you'll want to do this) or removing Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS5/Plug-ins/Extensions/ScriptingSupport.8li and losing scripting support within photoshop (I'm not entirely sure what features you lose.)

I had some other issues with other CS V apps on XP but no issues at all with Windows 7.

If I remove this file - they lose scripting support but the program will run?

We are experiencing the same issue with CS5. Removal of the scriptingsupport.8li file seems to remove the usage of Adobe Bridge as well as others (which is great if not using them , but we need to!)

We are currently experimenting with using a non-mandatory profile user to log on and see if it begins to work. Will the permissions above need to be set on the folders anyway?
