PCs going into stanby
Hi guys I have a problem, we normally use VS Power out to prevent all the pcs on the network going into standby, however due to a problem we are investigating we have had to remove the software for the moment, and now all the pcs are going into standby, now itís easy to change these settings per user but they donít propagate though profiles, given we have 600 pcs and 2000 kids this is not an exercise we can keep doing! Anyone have any ideas how we can stop the pcs going into standby on all profiles?
We have a flat network using 2003 server with GP, all our work stations are on xp.
We create a local profile on each machine, modify it how we want (windows classic theme, no background, resolutions, screen saver and power settings, desktop, start menu, run all programs and verify they start okay, run all adobe/java/quicktime/etc applications and disable update checking) and then copy this profile to the 'Default User' profile on the machine.
This was set up on our machines before I started and still ticks over in the background. EZ GPO : ENERGY STAR
You could either change the following registry settings on each PC:
(Via Script or GPP GPO)
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
Or you could always use the Group Policy Preferences GPO where you can specify the power saving functions required. This will work for Windows XP, Vista and 7
