i have created a ghost image that works on most of the computer in the one room but unfortunaly it does not work on 6 of them
it error say that there is not enough contiguouse space
does anybody know how to get around this
i have tried now for 2 weeks and i really can not find how to fix it

Im assuming there isnt a smaller disk installed in these 6 PCs?
Are you using multiple partitions on the image and/or destination drive?
Have you tried a disk to disk image?
In addition, it could also be the boot disk you are using to get into ghost, what method do you use?
A few things to try:
1) Like chris says check the HDDs are the same size. Ghosting likes destination drive to be same as original.
2) Are all the machines *identical* i.e. same network drivers needed?
3) You might be able to get around it by doing this:
a) take HDD from already ghosted machine (one that worked, call is machine "A")
b) swap with one of the annoying 6 and see if it works fine with the new hardware.
c) try ghosting the HDD that didn't work by putting it in machine "A"
4) I hate ghosting.

I'm not overly familiar with Ghost but can this be a fat32, ntfs issue?
It might be worth running the drive manufacturer's tools on the drives see if they report any errors.
Another thing is just to check that ghost is actualy detecting the hard drive and not doing something daft like pointing it's self the to the boot media.
Is it an SATA or an IDE hard drive.
I work With Rob, the Machines are identical Spec and Size. We have 60 of these RM Tower Pc's
Some Ghost Okay but some Show this error?
we have even tried reducing the image size and ghosting the images which is almost 40Gb to a much larger HDD (80 Gb)
Only have this problem with these machines.
How do you boot to Ghost and are all NICs the same make/model? (even down to revision numbers can screw with the drivers)
Try seeing if the BIOSes have the same settings, many BIOSes have a legacy settings which makes SATA controllers more compatible (I've forgoten the exact terminology). It might be this is enabled on some of the motherboards and not on the other ones.Quote:

Try this...low level format the HD using a utility like Powermax...once your HD is all 1 and 0's, format using NTFS, FAT32...whatever you need and then try ghosting it again!
