Windows XP Volume Control

Does anybody know where Windows XP stores its user settings for the Volume Controls?

I need to set a default for volume and microphone settings on 200+ PCs that will be reset when a different student logs on.

I've trawled through the Registry and can only find the settings for which sliders are shown in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Applets\Volume Control. What I need to set is the levels of the sliders and the mute on/off settings so that every user gets the same, every time they log on. Once I've found where they are stored I'm sure I can script it to reset for each user.

Thanks, but this doesn't do what I'm wanting.

I have exported this key as it is, made and saved changes to mute settings and volume sliders, then reimported the original key. It has not reset the changed settings to their original state.

The setvol and mute utilities will do what you want (they are scriptable), they can be found here (you just need to scroll down): Utilities
