Enable Wireless on Boot
Got a problem with a load of Asus Eee 1005 that we got.

Kids have started turning off the wireless just before they shut down at the end. This means that next time the computer boots the wireless is disabled and the computer can't connect to the network.

So - i'm looking for a way of ensuring that the wireless card is enabled on boot. These are the things I have tried so far, so any more suggestions please!!!
1. Checked BIOS - there is no setting to enfore wireless is turned on.
2. Tried using a script - but the Win32_NetworkAdapter.Enable command only works on Vista or Windows 7
3. Tried Hardware Profiles - but you cannot specify that a device must be turned on.
There is no physical button on the laptop, but there is a keyboard hotkey (FN + F2) to enable and disable the wireless and bluetooth.

I am just about to try and uninstall the Asus software on the laptop to see if that will stop it, but if not - I am stuck!!

Any ideas anyone?

startup script ? To send the keys FN + F2 ?

we'v had a similar problem on here before and found the best solution to disable the keys in the regestry, but keep in mind the f2 key provides a different output when the fn key is held down

We had the same issue with our Amilo Pros, we found that running the fujitsu wifi utility would enable the adapter. Anyhow we made it run as a scheduled task that starts with the PC. The task will run before login and solved our problem. The caviet was that if a user was super speedy they could log in before the connection established.

You may be able to control this with Bridgechecker, but not sure? Even if not, it's a useful bit of software:

Except that this would turn the wireless OFF if the kids had left it on.

Get it to Ping google.com , if no response Send Keys
