That's very interesting. I have installed the client on 152 pcs for this trial. So if we bought securus at the price I have been quoted for, then it would cost us altogether £3,108.
But if the server was £960 and the licenses where £8, then it would cost us altogether £2176. Me thinks you have got the better deal there!
I reckon they have a price per station, they they manipulate the figures around that
Sounds like it allright. Maybe I won't kick up a fuss then :DQuote:

If it helps, i've been using Securus since the beginning (helped beta test the first version). It was developed partly in response to Policy Central Pro's (Cyber Sentinel's) numerous problems and IMHO is an absolutely must have product in a School (for obvious reasons).
The chaps at SecuritySoft are some of the best I've dealt with for support and general friendliness - in fact, I'll ask the Sales director if he minds my posting his contact details here as I'd highly recommend dealing with them direct rather than a reseller (I'm assuming they are still selling direct).
The sheer joy of knowing everytime someone says f**k on your network!!!
Oh, and I'm not in the employ (paid or otherwise) of SecuritySoft... :!:
We have been using Securus for some while. However, of late the Server has become unreliable. We have had to recover it a number of times and are finding that the server becomes "unavailable" at times.
We need to spend some time sorting it out but you know how things are.....
We have been able to help staff on a number of occasions when there have been "incidents" including some bullying over e-mail. It is worth the money but it is more of an insurance in some cases.
Just been advised by Securus Support to upgrade to v3. Only problem is that I have to get the server working again under v2 so that the upgrade to the server can be done via a workstation!!!. Ho hum!
Apparently the reason v2 servers "stopped" is down to the network(!) "You must have a duff switch or your students are messing around with the network connectins and forming loops" (I quote!) This apparently corrupts the server databases.
I will post again when we get up to v3 (if we actually do) We are not convinced that Securus offers value for money.
Any comments?
I think it is a little overpriced, but then I haven't seen anything that does what it does, ie create screenshots rather than just log events.
Stewart Knight upgraded to version 3 but then said he had problems, not with it not working, but rather with how it did work. I can't remember what he was said though. Stewart???
I had the exact same problems and the upgrade to v3 has completely solved the issues. The server is much more reliable now... would highly recommend doing the upgrade as soon as poss...
A few issues with it Mark;
(1) Randomly archives (including 'saved' items)
(2) You can't view the archives
(3) Some of the later items in a long list can't be viewed
I've spoken with Securus, this is a known issue, and they hope to have a "fix" shortly!
Yup, I concur. Version 3 has some kind of live 'backup thing' so that database corruption and the like should not happen again.
Also all violations are rated from 0-100 now, so being able to choose to only see violations above 50, for instance, really cuts down on a lot of the false positives. I still have issues with some of the words they believe are violations though - especially many of the sports car names are also drug slang, so they show up a lot needlessly.
Two schools that I work for trialled it. One school took it up as a useful tool the other school decided that the annual subscription was too high.
They are happy with the tool they use Impero Software and they get it for a one off payment, like most software.
