Google Earth .msi
Greetings, I need install Google Earth on a PC in a networked environment with multiple mapped drives. Google’s installation process allows no flexibility for choosing installation pathway. Currently Google earth is not installed on the C: drive, not listed in MS installation clean up tool, not in the registry.
Depending on the installation package used, I return different errors including: installation failed 0X080040905 please try again and Error code = 1327 Invalid Drive Z:\. One posted solution suggest that the Google Earth .msi be edited using Orca, however I cannot find the .msi package. Google Earth downloads as a .exe file.
Additional suggestions or a like to download the Google Earth.msi would be greatly appreciated.
Welcome to Edugeek; unfortunately you've posted in the "Site Problems" for Edugeek itself not under Windows Help but I'm sure a kind mod will move this thread shortly.
In the meantime, you can get the MSI from your tempdir once you run the EXE.
Some info here that might help you work out how to use a silent installer.
You can download the Google Earth 5 MSI here
Download/run the file and extract the files. You can then move the folder to a deployment directory of your choice. Use Active Directory or whichever tool you use to deploy the MSI. Hope this helps :)
the inzalid drive z (assuming you are deploying the msi via gpo) ive had similar before it turns out the teh local pcs registy was slightly wrong it had somehow got .default users my documents as z:
I have installed Google Earth on our network by installing it on my computers and then moving the entire directory to a network share. It seems to work fine like that.
