USB Probem

Got a customer with a Dell Inspiron 1150 laptop, XP Professional. Everytime you plug in an external hard drive or flash drive it blue screens. I have searched for Blue Screen error messages on Microsofts websites, but there are onyl numbers displayed never a error message. Have re-installed the USB drivers, run AV and anti spyware just in case. Tried plugging in a powered USB Hub but the same problem occured when I plugged that in even though there was nothing plugged into it.

Does anyone have any ideas or come across this before.

What's in the event log ? [ If it has BSd then there should be a log for it with the relevant dump info..... ]

Haven't got the laptop at the moment, will post when I collect it again

i have had this problem before and it was the usb port that i was plugging the drives into that was faulty, used a different usb port and it was fine.

the laptop only has two usb ports and I have had the same problem on both
