slow logoff problem
have a problem with logoffs hanging at "saving you settings" for 10 minutes or more in 3 IT rooms for students on mandatory profiles - yet for same student accounts it is ok in other rooms e.g. design - logs off straight away.
Spent ages researching this and experimenting to no avail.
Tried installing UPHclean get following in event viewer-
The following handles in user profile hive WVCC\studentusername (S-1-5-21-673461941-2943002750-4263894529-9869) have been remapped because they were preventing the profile from unloading successfully:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Network\Location Awareness (0x3d8)
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings\ZoneMap (0x400)
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings\ZoneMap (0x404)
All stations running IE 7 so not sure what internet explorer setting could be messing things up.
In group policy have prevent propogation of profile to server enabled and delete cached copies of local profiles enabled - tried altering these but no difference. Also tried setting maximum tries to unload and upload user profile to 0.
Any ideas? - thinking about creating a new mandatory profile from scratch.
Cheers Mark
Have you tried safe mode with networking to see if the problem is replicated there? could be a service not unloading itself correctly at logoff.
Thanks for that advice - it does logoff ok in safe mode so I suppose it is a matter of enabling services one by one and testing - Mark
yeah removing programs in startup from msconfig should enable you to find the problem app.
Solution - was Sophos
Tracked it down to sophos - as soon as i disabled and stopped sophos everything was fine - although why it affected only 3 rooms when others had same configuration and version of sophos i don't know.
After raising a call with sophos they suggested disabling scanning remote files which is on by default - did this and everything is ok.
Thanks to edugeek for putting me on right track yet again,
I am having the same problem but hadn't looked into it yet - you just saved me some time - cheers mate!
