They normally work fine over 2GB - but exmerge won't work over that size.
Its probably not good practice to let them get that big either.
I've found however, that outlook 2K7 handles larger mailboxes much better.
The limit for Office 2003 is 2GB and as already mentioned, Office 2007 allows much larger mail box sizes.
Hi Domino,
If you have a machine for that, you can trial GFI MailArchiver
Email archiving, email management and email compliance for Exchange Server
It's a solution to archive emails from a mail server to SQL or NTFS type of database. It helps users retrieving their own email through a search interface. Once an email is archived, you can find it by "Sender, Recipient, Date, Subject, Keywords in the body of the email, Attachment..."
The trial is free (30 days) and there is a feature to import existing PST to the type of database above. Hope this help
Syst Requirements:
- Windows 2000 (Service Pack 3 or higher), Windows 2003 or Windows 2008 server
- Access to Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 or later
- Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
- Internet Information Services (IIS) – World Wide Web service.
erm.....no
Archived folders in the users secure home directory is more than adequate
Ok I imagine the problem is that I have office 2000, and it has reached it's limit!
....use thunderbird instead?
Hi
Outlook 2000 spits the dummy when a PST file hits 2Gb.
This link may help:
Download details: Exchange 2000 Tool: PST2GB
Don't know about XP or 2003, but 2007 gives you a friendly warning and allows you to do some archiving without data loss.
Compress Personal Folders - Outlook has a strange function in that it doesnt really free up the space used by deleted messages until you compress the personal folders. Anything over 2gb and you will have problems deleteing emails in any of your folders bar deleted items folder.
