Outlook - Do PST.files go courrupt after 2GB?

I have outlook on my home machine and the other day it wouldn't open the pst file.

Then I read over this......

Can someone shine some light on it for me please?

They normally work fine over 2GB - but exmerge won't work over that size.

Its probably not good practice to let them get that big either.

I've found however, that outlook 2K7 handles larger mailboxes much better.

The limit for Office 2003 is 2GB and as already mentioned, Office 2007 allows much larger mail box sizes.

Ok I imagine the problem is that I have office 2000, and it has reached it's limit!

Don't know about XP or 2003, but 2007 gives you a friendly warning and allows you to do some archiving without data loss.

Compress Personal Folders - Outlook has a strange function in that it doesnt really free up the space used by deleted messages until you compress the personal folders. Anything over 2gb and you will have problems deleteing emails in any of your folders bar deleted items folder.
