Password Control v2.2 Problem

Dunno if anyone else gets this issue..

Installed PasswordControl v2.2 onto the ICT Staff PCs to allow them to change passwords - this worked fine last year..

However this year whenever they launch the shortcut the Windows Installer box comes up saying its installed/configuring the software, then crashes out saying it cant find some files and the path its looking in is the Administrators Temp folder!!
Needless to say, th files are not their, cos as all good MSI's do - the files get deleted upon completion of installation.;

We're using Vista but have seen it do the same thing on XP..

Anyone else encountered this?

It sounds like it is running a repair install because one ore more of its files or registry entries have been messed with by another app or are not setup for that user. It also sounds like this app was installed directly by an administrator instead of GP.

I would suggest extracting the MSI if possible ("setup.exe /a" or "msiexec setup.msi /a") to your software distribution share and then installing it from there. With this setup at least if it needs to repair itself it should just grab the files from the share and repair successfully.

You could also try installing it via GP which would default it to all users or use "msiexec /i <database>.msi ALLUSERS=1" to force an all users install.
