Sorry probably wrong forum but stressed at mo!
Laptop damaged over summer with liquid spillage (see my other post) teacher now using said laptop with ps/2 keyboard (as laptop keyboard only thing damaged) until we get it fixed, been issued with spare laptop but that's too slow :mad::mad: Anyway come to attach it to smartboard and of course attached keyboard has no function key to toggle between displays, is there anyway of doing this without the orginal keyboard?
There should be an option in the display properties or graphics driver widget to output to both screeens.

Yeap, as rhyds said, you can usually assign hot key combinations in the advanced graphics driver properties that will allow you to set a different screen profile, ie clone/single to different standard key combinations like CTRL-ALT-D etc. If the option is not avalible try updating to the latest drivers which may include it.

Hmm, another possibe workaround is to power the laptop off and connect the ext display cable THEN turn it on, I know out Fujitsu laptops default to ext display when you do this.
can you not just fit a new keyboard to the laptop? generally this is easy enough to do
I agree with previous comments, go into the advanced display properties and change the hotkeys to some thing like Ctrl+Alt+F5.
In the long term a replacement keyboard would be the ideal solution. The problem could be more serious however, because the keyboard is connected by an extremely thin ribbon cable directly into the motherboard.
It might be worth (when you have time), to remove the keyboard and inspect the motherboard directly underneath. If there is water damage then you might need a new motherboard altogether, but for the time/cost, in the majority of cases it just isn't value for money and a new machine should be purchased.
Prices for replacement keyboard being sought as we speak, although I'm going to take it apart first and see if cleaning the keyboard is sufficient before we buy one. Spare laptop has been issued but user states it's too slow:D

I'm sure you have loads of other jobs you need to do - I wouldn't waste too much time looking for a solution for the display issue when the teacher has a solution for now - the 'slow' laptop (presumably this is OK with the smartboard ?)

Yes spare laptop fully functional with smartboard and has all required software on (including teachers docs that were backed up from 'wet' laptop.), in fact it's been waiting in the cupboard to step into the breech for an eventuality such as this!
