RM Ones won't build properly

Here's one for you. Our new RM Ones (actually Ecoquiet 965s) are having trouble installing packages. XP installs fine during the rebuild but when it gets to the stage where packages are installed, one of three things can happen:

• Nothing is installed, appagent doesn't seem to come up
• Some RM apps are installed but nothing happens on the next reboot
• The CC3 logon screen is replaced by the default Windows logon screen and nothing happens

We're on HSP31 at the moment and everything else builds fine!

We had problems with this a while back - Is it just those or all of the computers as we couldn't get any of ours to build.

We never found a reason why it was happening but found that deleting the machine out of the RMMC, delete the packagecontrol.ini and the DNS for that machine, then build and it works fine.

Might be something different for you but that was our solution.

Where are you building them to?

It's all the machines. We've got them in 3 different locations, all one level below main site. E.g. SCH\Main Site\Room X.

They build, install some RM packages and stop at the logon screen. You can logon but there's no software installed. If I look at the package.ini file it's all Install_Pending. :mad:

Also, they fail to join the domain several times while building, it takes about 6-8 retries. It's as if it's trying to do all the package allocation before the network comes up, which would explain why it checks, finds nothing to do, then shows the logon screen.

Like I say, try deleting all the entries for one machine (DNS, packagecontrol.ini and machine out of RMMC) then try a build again.

Its install pending for a reason normally.

Build a machine to Main Site, this will rule out your HSPs etc.

Normally we do this anyway, minus the DNS entry. I tried that today and the build still failed. :(

I don't think so. Here, I'll attach it. I've also run a healthcheck on the server which came up clean. Like I say, all other machine types are building okay.

Was it a level 4 health check?

That sounds good. How do I do one of those? I ran healthcheck.exe from the D: drive before.

That should do it. Be sure to set it back to Level 1 afterwards! It may come back clean still but after it has finished take a look through the logs - any errors should be highlighted in red.

Look in the event viewer, what was the last package installed?

Silly but have you rebooted to see if it carries on?
