our school have a programm called "probots". i have successfully created the MSI and deployed it via GPO. but the problem is that the driver is not installed. while browsing the disk i have found the driver but it is a .sys and a .inf.
I was wondering is there any other way than going around each computer and manualy installing the driver on each computer
You could try and create an msi of the driver install using a program like winstallle.
i have tried that but all it does it put the .sys and .inf file into the system32/drivers folder. and when i plug the probot in usb it just complains saying its a convertor device and needs to find the drivers.
What happens if you tell it to automatically find the drivers, if they are signed they should install right away, but only for admins. Drivers are tricky and annoying like that.
it just says that they can't find the drivers even when they are in the system32 /drivers folders. which shows they are not signed.
to install it i have to tell the computer that its a human interface device and locate the .inf file then locate the .sys file.
nightmare i know haha.
This was the problem with the old promethean driver, companies have to pay to get their drivers signed and some companies just don't bother. So I guess there is not an answer to distributing the software driver from an msi.
