Re: Help and advice on using the GMPC
Make sure you create your policies from a machine running WindowsXP SP2.
Sorry I don't have anything more helpful to say.

Whys that then?
Re: Help and advice on using the GPMC
Because the ADM templates are newer. They have support for things like the XP SP2 firewall for example. Where as the ones in Server 2003 don't.
Re: Help and advice on using the GPMC
They do if you have SP1 installed on it
Re: Help and advice on using the GPMC
Sorry I didn't explain why lol.
Originally it was, as Geoff said, that it had settings not available anywhere else.
While Norphy is correct that the templates may now be included in SP1 for Server 2003, other settings you may wish to add aren't, eg Office and custom adm's.
While I suppose it would be possible to include these on the server, it's not really recommended to start doing that, always customize things off servers!
Re: Help and advice on using the GPMC
There's nothing to it. There is best practice to folloe - things like making sure that you have a sensible OU structure to start with (e.g. pupils and staff in their own OUs).
You should also use the console to document your GPOs afterwards - you can create HTML pages of the settings.
