AmaSeis Seismometer Software - crashes

Just wondered if any other schools have seismometers and use AmaSeis from http://pods.binghamton.edu/~ajones/AmaSeis.html ?

We've been trying to get it running reliably for a while, but it always falls over after a while (about 2hrs is the record) whether there's input or not. We've tried it on 2K and XP Pro, with various combinations of AV/Amaseis versions and aren't really getting anywhere.

The software when running will log fine, there's enough diskspace, but it will fall over at some point. Turning on logging in the .ini file reveals lots of:

I've seen that other people have got this running on XP fine and wondered if anyone can give me a hint.

Self-bump. Annoyingly enough, this seems perfectly stable running under Wine.
