We use a single mandatory profile for our tinies. They all have their own home directories, but the desktop looks the same for everyone, every time they log on.
You could probably solve this just by altering the permissions on the desktop folder in the all users profile. How many computers do you have and what sort of setup?
Are your computers on a network? We use mandatory profiles, but if you aren't on a network then that isn't possible. I know that we had a little peer-to-peer network years ago and that used a program called Winsuite, which managed the desktop icons in a standard way. I think it is still available - R-E-M or similar supplier??
Nooooo! Winsuite is horrible, and more importantly is no longer supported in any way by the people who made it.Quote:

Either use mandatory profiles, or change the permissions on each machine. Simple, cheap and effective.
There are settings in Group Policy other than using manditory profiles that wont save changes to the desktop when you log off etc. Cant remember exactly what or where they are but you should find them with a good route through the settings over a looong coffee.
I have used this in the past. You can run it from the network and remove icons in the system tray to stop users disabling it. Worked quite well as well.
