.net install before wireless drivers causes wireless to fail

I am starting to wonder of .net messes with wireless drivers on laptops.

On a recent build of an HP laptop I found that if I had installed the .net frameworks before the wireless drivers then the connection status would show any received packets. I couldn't pickup an IP lease or ping any servers after setting a static address.

I used system restore to go back before the point .net was installed and wireless connection appreared to work as normal.

Does this seem familiar to anyone or was I just unlucky with one build?
