Automatically detect settings

I'm thinking and wanting to allow staff's laptops to automatically detect the settings. I've written quick programs so they can switch the proxy on and off.

Just wondering if anybody else allows "automatically detect settings" and cfg the servers to do so.

If not, how come?

We use it. Works fine.

I've tried it and although it usually works, it's not perfect.
