natively remove home directory in ADUC
When you create a user in aduc provided the correct profile path is in there users aduc profile it creates the users home directory automatically ( natively in aduc )
Just wanted to know is there a way to do the reverse ie there are 6th formers leaving and instead of deleting or disabling the users accounts and then deleting there home directorys one by one, is there a way to make it so that when you disable or delete the users accounts in ADUC it deletes the users directorys ?
Re: natively remove home directory in ADUC
You're right, AD doesn't do this by default, however what I do is create a root folder called "Users", then within this folder create year group folders by the year they joined:
2004
2005
2006
2007 etc etc
In each year group folder are the pupil home directories. When a year group joins, I use an application called AutoShare, which does all the hard work for me. There's also an application called Unshare, which you can download here: http://www.scriptlogic.com/support/products/autoshare/
When you've unshared all the users within a particular year group, you can then just delete the year group folder itself. Not quite automated, but again, saves a lot of time.
This method only deletes the user home directories, however to delete multiple users in AD - click the first user, hold shift, then click the last user. All the users in question should then be highlighted ready to delete.
Alternatively, to specify specific users, hold the control key down and left click the relevant users, and again delete when ready.
Re: natively remove home directory in ADUC
Thanks for the help :) still a bit annoying that you can create the shares natively in aduc but not remove them.
