Deploying .net framework 2.0 via WSUS 3.0
I'm using WSUS 3.0 on my admin Vanilla network here and have used it to deploy Microsoft .net framework 2.0 but when looking at the status for the stations it reports as "Not Applicable"! Well this is applicable as far as i'm converned and the stations do need it so anyone know how i can override this? What is it that makes this decision?
Re: Deploying .net framework 2.0 via WSUS 3.0
It's not applicable if either:
1) The update has been superseded by another. For example if Net 3.0 Framework includes the Net 2.0 runtimes (it does for XP btw).
2) The update has been installed previously but not by WSUS. eg, a manually applied service pack or visiting the Windows Update website.
Re: Deploying .net framework 2.0 via WSUS 3.0
I didn't know net 2.0 runtimes were included in version 3.0. Thanks for the info.
All of the stations are updated via WSUS and have been for a long time so don't think it will have been installed manually/seperately.
I've just deployed net 3.0 and am still getting "Not Applicable" from the same stations.
Re: Deploying .net framework 2.0 via WSUS 3.0
Another option is some other software installed .Net as part of its installation and setup process perhaps?
Re: Deploying .net framework 2.0 via WSUS 3.0
Seems possible although i have checked "add and remove" programs for an entry but there's nothing there. Surely if this was part of another apps install it would still have a seperate install entry here!?
Re: Deploying .net framework 2.0 via WSUS 3.0
Sadly there isn't a foolproof way to verify if .Net is installed and which version of .Net it is. :(
Re: Deploying .net framework 2.0 via WSUS 3.0
It seems that many of the stations are now reporting this as installed from the WSUS report. Even some of the ones that said is was Not Applicable have decided that it is now!!
Re: Deploying .net framework 2.0 via WSUS 3.0
This has fully installed everywhere now. Cheers for the help
