Exchange 2010 problem!
In my school exchange is used just for internal emails and it has been running fine during my 18 months here. However, recently it started to play up and e-mails won't send and will go straight into the drafts folder. After restarting the server that Exchange 2010 is installed on, the e-mails all seem to push through just fine on their own. This is happening once a day , so it is becoming a bit of an inconvenience.
First thing I woudl check is free disc space on all the drives on the machine. Then (when its not working) if any services are stopped that are set to automatic start (ideally check services running in working and non working state). Also check event log.
I'd have to agree, it does sound like a resource problem. I'd also make sure Exchange 2010 is up-to-date.
An alternative solution is Office 365. You can create e-mail rules so internal e-mail is only possible for certain users.
Check disk space of the logs... also eventvwr.msc
Login to Office 365 (as an admin), select Options > See All Options...
Change Manage Self to Manage My Organisation (towards the top left) > Mail Control
Click New, then specify
If... The sender is in the scope of... > Outside the organisation
Click More Options..., then click Add Condition
The receipient... > is this person
Now add all your pupil users for example
Do the following...
Block the message... > Delete the message without notifying anyone
Name the rule as required, then click Save.
When you have the problem check all the Exchange services and see if they are running.
